However, it is not possible for cacti to be long-lived and healthy without proper care. When you bring your cacti to your home or office, the most important question is where and how they will be happy. Here are the things you need to pay attention to so that you can grow your cacti indoors healthily:

Need for Light

Cacti are plants that love lots of light. However, this need for lots of light should not be confused with direct midday sun. Cacti like morning and afternoon sun. Direct midday sun can cause sunburn on their leaves. Therefore, you should protect your cacti from places where they will be exposed to the midday sun. Ideally, an east or west-facing windowsill would be a great place for your cacti.

Maintenance For Winter

The most important factors to consider for cacti in the winter months are temperature and humidity. In general, cacti should not be located in areas with temperatures below zero degrees and in areas with rainfall. It is best to keep species that are not resistant to low temperatures indoors, and to keep other species outdoors but in a place protected from rain.

Cacti enter a dormant period during the winter months. During this period, which lasts from October-November to February-March, cacti need a temperature between 5-15 degrees, a dry and moisture-free environment, and sufficient light. You should also reduce the frequency of watering during this period.

Watering

Starting from the end of March, you should start watering your cacti with a spray method in warm weather and in the morning hours to moisten the soil. After repeating this process 4-5 times at 3-4 day intervals, you can move on to the main summer watering. In the summer months, you should water them at 10-day intervals and allow the soil to dry completely. You can reduce the frequency of watering depending on the increase in temperature.

When September comes, you should extend the watering intervals and reduce the amount of water given. Towards the end of October, watering should continue with spraying as in the beginning of spring and should be completely cut off during the winter months. You should keep your cacti in a dry, airy and cool place in the winter and water them very little, every 30-40 days.

Repotting and Fertilizing

Keep your cacti in a cool and dry environment between October and April, that is, during the dormant period, and prefer this period for repotting. During the development and flowering period between April and September, support the growth of your cacti with appropriate watering, plenty of light and fertilization and ensure that they are prepared for winter.

For more information about cacti Cactus and Succulent Association websiteyou can take a look or contact us at hello@cocodema.com.

The most common mistake of those who say “I would even kill a cactus” is using the wrong soil mixture, 90% of the time…

[1

post-13030","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-genel
["GET
